The growth of Open Source in Africa has skyrocketed compared to years ago due to a conscious effort by Open Source Community Africa (OSCA). In this talk, I’ll share the historical evolution of open source in Africa, the steps taken to drive its growth, the challenges faced, and how they were navigated.
You’ll also learn about the impact of open source on various sectors in Africa, the role of policy, community-building efforts, and the significance of global collaborations.
This talk will give the global open source community more context beyond the statistics in the Octoverse report, thereby enabling organizations that intend to expand or attract contributors from Africa to gain more insight and context.
