Session: Building Quantum-Safe Applications with Open Source Tools

Quantum computers pose a unique threat to computer security, as the encryption standards we rely upon are vulnerable to powerful quantum computers. While those computers are still several years away, “harvest now, decrypt later” attacks put all data not protected using quantum-safe security at risk. So what can we do now to protect our applications? In this session, Paul will demo how to deploy a quantum-safe application on Kubernetes. He’ll provide a brief overview of quantum-safe cryptography and why it’s needed, highlight key work being done in the open source community by groups such as the Post Quantum Cryptography Alliance and Open Quantum Safe to migrate to quantum-safe cryptography, and conclude with a demo of how to build a quantum-safe cloud-native application. At the conclusion of this session, listeners will have a set of practical steps they can take to help secure their applications in a post-quantum world
