Session: A Tour of the AI Open Source Project Landscape Featuring InstructLab

AI technologies and applications are going through a period of rapid improvement, growth, and adoption. One key factor that is driving this huge increase in growth is the large number of AI open source projects that are forming strong ecosystems and are accelerating development and innovation across several aspects of the AI landscape, including the training, tuning, deploying, and creation of AI foundation models. In this talk, we provide an overview of the AI open source projects such as PyTorch, Ray, and CodeFlare that are instrumental for training and validating foundation models. We then describe several open source projects such as KServe/ModelMesh, VLLM, and Hugging Face that are utilized for the tuning and serving of foundation models. Next, we introduce InstructLab, which is a new open source project that leverages the power of community and some recent research innovations to enable the building of truly open source LLMs. We conclude this talk with a discussion on how developers can get started with these open source technologies to help accelerate them on their AI journey to transform their business.
