Open Source by Pieces: A Community for AI-Enabled Dev Tool Enthusiasts
At Pieces, we are dedicated to empowering developers by fostering a vibrant and inclusive open-source community. Our latest initiative, Open Source by Pieces, is just the first step in our journey to support and collaborate with developers worldwide.
Our commitment to open source is embodied in the initial release of our TypeScript, Python, Dart and Kotlin SDKs. These SDKs give developers direct access to Pieces OS, the “brains” behind the Pieces for Developers suite. Pieces OS enhances development workflows with efficient data processing, robust machine learning management, seamless tool integration, and strong security, all while operating locally and offline, enabling developers to integrate Pieces into their favorite dev tool or build their own apps. For example, developers can manage snippets and interact with a copilot via our open-source CLI agent, or build their own open-source copilot powered by local large language models.
We understand that the best solutions come from collaboration. That’s why we are opening up our platform to the community, inviting developers to contribute, innovate, and build upon our existing tools. Our goal is to create an environment where developers can easily integrate new tools with Pieces, share their improvements to existing tools, and benefit from the collective expertise of the community.
